Prof. Dr. Katja Nettesheim is the founder of _MEDIATE. _MEDIATE supports media companies in their quest for new, digital revenues, i.a. by designing and implementing innovative business models, finding the right digital start-ups to invest or striking collaborations with digital companies. Prior to launching her own company, Katja, a trained lawyer, has gained professional experience for many years at the Axel Springer Group. There she was active in the field of M&A, as well as working on the Managing Board of Hamburg’s regional newspapers. Previously, Katja had worked as a business consultant at The Boston Consulting Group for several years, mainly in the media and private equity practices. In the early stages of her career, she was an attorney for international tax and corporate law at Freshfields and Shearman & Sterling, among others. Katja is also a professor of media management at a private university. With her vast wealth of experience in mind, hub:raum (Deutsche Telekom’s incubator) included Katja into their mentor team in May, 2012. Furthermore, she holds several supervisory seats, such as at Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (= “Association of German Publishers and Booksellers”, which directs the Frankfurt Book fair) and Wild Bunch (formerly Senator Entertainment) AG. Since July, 2012, she has been vice chairman to the Board of Directors of HRpepper, an innovative but nonetheless experienced business consultancy focused on organization. Since early 2011, she has been a member of the advisory board of GMPVC German Media Pool, Germany’s first media for equity fund.
