Role description
We are seeking an innovative, commercially driven, and strategic Marketing Director to lead our marketing team. This role is pivotal in driving the revitalization of our brand, expand the brand into new markets, and strengthening our position in existing ones. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of strategic insight, creativity, and a track record of driving brand growth, with a keen understanding of the outdoor industry and market trends. You’ll have the opportunity to lead and inspire a talented team that is passionate about our brand and our products, spearhead the revitalization of an iconic brand, and play a key role in our journey toward renewed growth and profitability.
The role is part of the company's management team and reports to the CEO.
Areas of responsibility
- Brand Strategy & Leadership: Lead the development and execution of Bergans' global marketing strategy, with a focus on brand positioning, market expansion, and strengthening our leadership in the outdoor industry.
- Market Expansion: Spearhead marketing initiatives to grow the Bergans brand in new international markets, ensuring that our products and messaging resonate with diverse consumer segments while maintaining our brand’s core values.
- Integrated Marketing Campaigns: Oversee the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, print, and event channels, ensuring consistent messaging that drives customer engagement and brand loyalty.
- Team Development & Leadership: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration. Provide mentorship and guidance to help individuals grow within their roles.
- Customer Insights & Trends: Analyze market trends, consumer insights, and competitor activity to continually adapt marketing strategies and identify new growth opportunities for the brand.
- Product & Content Strategy: Collaborate with product development and creative teams to ensure our products are marketed effectively and consistently. Oversee the development of compelling content that communicates Bergans’ brand story, values, and product benefits.
- Budget & Performance Tracking: Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation across initiatives. Track and analyze key performance metrics to measure the success of campaigns and refine strategies for continuous improvement.
- Partnerships & Sponsorships: Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and collaborations with relevant ambassadors, influencers, organizations, and media to amplify Bergans' presence in key markets.
Competence profile
- Proven experience (10+ years) from senior marketing roles, with a strong background in brand management, digital marketing, and international market expansion, preferably within the outdoor, sportswear, or lifestyle sectors.
- Proven experience in developing and executing long-term brand strategies to enhance brand recognition and loyalty.
- Experienced in digital marketing strategies (social media, SEO/SEM, email, content marketing), with a track record of delivering successful campaigns
- Ability to leverage consumer insights and performance analytics to optimize marketing strategies and drive measurable results.
- Proven track record in leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing marketing teams.
- Strong experience from working cross-functionally with product, sales, and other departments to ensure marketing strategies align with company objectives.
- Proficient in managing marketing budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources while maintaining a focus on return on investment (ROI).
- Skilled in guiding creative development, ensuring content aligns with brand values and resonates with target audiences.
- Experience from positioning innovative products, translating technical features into compelling customer benefits.
- Deep understanding of customer behavior, using insights to develop marketing strategies that drive engagement and loyalty.
- Expertise in defining and tracking KPIs to measure marketing success and continuously optimize strategies for better results.
